MAGIC KINGDOM - There’s a great big, beautiful tomorrow for fans of Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress as a major update to the show’s finale is announced this morning!
The long-running show is a tribute to technological innovation and how it improves the daily lives of regular people. The final scene, presumably set in the near future, was last updated in 1993. It will now take place at an Olive Garden.
“The Carousel of Progress is a long time favorite of Disney fans,” Says Imagineer Hank Thomas. “The finale is a tricky subject because it feels futuristic whenever it’s updated, but will inevitably feel dated in a few years”
“At WDI (Walt Disney Imagineering), we recognize the latest advances in technology and societal progress, the greatest of which is Olive Garden’s unlimited soup or salad and bread sticks.”
Frequenters of the attraction, when questioned, were uneasy about the notion of the refurbishments closing the show for 4 months, but looked forward to seeing their favorite family enjoying a sensible Italian dinner.
Annual Passholder Kelly Drentias commented, “The finale right now feels so cheesy. VR gaming isn’t really that big a deal, the way the ride predicted. What IS a big deal is Olive Garden’s Never-Ending Pasta Bowl. All the pasta you can eat for $10.99? This is the future!”
Olive Garden will also be the show’s new sponsor, outbidding Apple and Tesla for the spot.
