WDW Bans Smoking Cigarettes. Sitting In Bathtub, Smoking Big Ass Cigar Still Permitted.

WALT DISNEY WORLD - Today Disney announced a series of unprecedented changes to polices around the Walt Disney World Resort. Among them include restrictions around loose/dry ice and Wagon style strollers.

The change that gained likely the most attention was the banning of smoking inside the parks. Beginning May 1st, all designated smoking sections inside the parks will be removed. Many guests were elated with the announcement as it removes the possibility of encountering secondhand smoke while traveling past some of the former designated areas.

While for most it is a welcome change, some guests who still partake are up in arms with what they call a hypocritical stipulation in the rules. "If they're gonna ban smoking, they should ban all of it." Robert-James Ritchie of Loxahatchee, FL states. "Now we have to go a whole day without nicotine, but yet that old man gets to sit in his comically oversized bathtub and smoke his stogies in an enclosed space right next to guests? That's definitely not fair."

Ritchie is of course referring to Uncle Orville in the “Carousel of Progress" Attraction located in Tomorrowland. When we asked WDW for comment they simply responded with "This will be the 4th time in 3 months that we've had to explain to this same guy that the animatronics are not real people."

On a related note, beginning May 1st, a Mickey themed Juul/bubble wand combo will be avaialble for purchase at Launch Bay Cargo in DHS for $24.99+ tax.
